After having completed a Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree in her home province of Prince Edward Island (PEI), Maria went on to complete a Masters of Music (MMus) in vocal performance with First Class Honours at the University of Auckland in New Zealand (NZ). There, Maria worked with opera giants like, Dame Kiri Tekanawa, to further develop her vocal capacity and artistry. Maria also graduated with an Artist Diploma (ArtDip) from Western University in Ontario, Canada, and has attended both the European Academy of Opera (AEDO) and the Canadian Operatic Arts Academy (COAA). -
In New Zealand, Maria performed the role of Nancy in the Opera Factory production of Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. At La Villa Puccini in Italy, Maria brought spell-bound warrior, Ruggiero, to life in Handel's Alcina.
In addition to classical music, Maria sings soul, pop, musical theatre, and folk music. She has been praised for her “gorgeous soprano (voice), compelling stage presence and detailed dramatic skills…” in Neptune Theatre’s production of Stan Rogers: A Matter of Heart.
Other theatre credits include Robyn Hood: This Tale's Even Fairlier [Confederation Centre of the Arts (CCOA)], Aladdin: Another Fairly Tall Tale (CCOA), Harvest Moon Rising (The Guild PEI), Anne and Gilbert (Harbourfront Theatre/Victoria Playhouse).
Maria also belts soulful classics as the front-woman for Motown cover band, The Motones. -
Maria has worked as a choreographer, assistant director, performer, and producer for various film and video projects.
Maria was featured in the role of Newf Terri on the Canadian Comedy Award winner of "Best Web Series", Just Passing Through, directed by Jeremy Larter.
Maria has also been a featured performer in award-winning music videos by filmmakers, Jenna MacMillan and Millefiore Clarkes.

Maria’s creative energy is currently focused on writing contemporary rhymes and old-timey melodies in a style she calls “Townie Folk.”
